A new initiative for Michigan’s space economy
Michigan announced the Space Innovation Hub on October 15, 2026. The statewide network will be anchored at Newlab Detroit in the Michigan Central Innovation District and is scheduled to launch October 28. According to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, a nearly $1.2 million one-year grant from the Michigan Office of Defense and Aerospace Innovation supports the initiative.
What the hub is intended to do
The initiative is designed to connect manufacturers, startups, researchers, workforce partners and federal agencies. Planned resources include advanced manufacturing and testing connections, supplier-readiness assistance, talent-development pathways and collaborative workspace. These efforts could create new routes into Michigan’s aerospace supply chain as the initiative develops.
What job seekers should know
The announcement does not specify a number of immediate openings at the hub. An economic-development announcement is not the same as an active job advertisement. Candidates interested in aerospace and advanced manufacturing can research skills such as precision manufacturing, quality assurance, production operations, engineering, robotics and supply-chain management, then review actual vacancies and employer requirements.
